Rev Gen

This past weekend on Saturday September 4, 2010 I got to go to a music festival called Revelation Generation (Rev Gen)! It was held in a giant field in Frenchtown, New Jersey that used to be used for the raising of horses. Rev Gen is one of the most important music festivals in New Jersey and last year about 30,000 people went. It is a two day festival that will have a total of about 60 acts performing for God and telling people about Him.
When I was there I saw quite a few bands including Fireflight, Kutless, Oh Sleeper, Britt Nicole, August Burns Red, Brandon Heath, and best of all The Almost. I have seen all of these bands before except for Oh Sleeper and the Almost. I have been told many good things about Oh Sleeper and all of them were 100% true. Their lyrics are so incredibly powerful and really are some of the best lyrics I have ever heard. They have one song called The Finisher which is about what God would say to the devil and here are some of the lyrics:
"Do you mean to challenge me?
Because your speech is threatening to the writer of your history,
through a future perverted by envy.
Your whisper may sway the weak, but when I speak it roars the sea."
Those are only the first few lines of the song, but they are by far my favorites.

Another band that I had the opportunity to see was The Almost, who is my favorite band ever. I have been wanted to see them ever since I found out about them my freshman year of high school. The band was formed in about 2005 after Aaron Gillespie left Underoath (whom I also love) where he was the drummer and clean vocalist. The Almost is now made up of Dusty Redmon (guitar), Alex Aponte (bass), Kenny Bozich (drums), Jay Vilardi (guitar), and of course Aaron Gillespie (vocals and guitar). Seeing them live was an absolutely amazing experience and I would absolutely love to see them again. Also I was able to meet them when I was buying a shirt from their stand and they were sooooo incredibly nice. Below I attached a photo that I took on Saturday and a video of one of my favorite songs by them, hope you enjoy!
